Harding Names Dan Burdette

New Chorus Director

Dan Burdette

For well over a year, we have prayed that God would send Harding the right person to direct the chorus program here. We are pleased to announce that Mr. Daniel Burdette has accepted our offer to join the faculty as director of choruses.

A native of New Hampshire, Mr. Burdette has taught music and directed choruses for seven years, most recently at Marion (AR) High School and previously at Forrest City High School.

Mr. Burdette holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music (1998) and a Masters Degree in education (2001) from Harding University in Searcy, AR. He was a graduate assistant in the music department, and he was Spring Sing music arranger 1996-2005. A member of American Choral Directors Association and Arkansas Choral Directors Association, he is skilled in musical composition and arranging as well as conducting. He serves as one of the song leaders at Holmes Road Church of Christ in Memphis, where he and his wife Carissa are members.

Mr. Burdette said, “Having taught in public schools my entire career, I have often looked at Harding Academy as a school that has striven to create an ideal Christian atmosphere in which the students can grow to their utmost potential. I have observed the high performance standards set by Mr. Chester, and I have desired a chance to teach in an environment that prizes faith and spiritual growth. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be able to share my love of music and Christian faith with the students at Harding Academy.”
