2009 PSAT test date is Wed. Oct. 14 for 10th & 11th grades

September 16th, 2008

The PSAT will be given to all 10th and 11th graders on Wednesday, October 14, 2009.

The PSAT is the qualifing test for the National Merit Scholarship. The 10th graders will be taking the test, but cannot qualify for the National Merit Scholarship until they are 11th graders.

Mrs. Stevens will be going into 10th and 11th grade classes in September to give students information on the PSAT. Students should take the information, which includes a practice PSAT test, home and use the material to study for the tests.

Parents, please ask your student to show you the important dates for 10th and 11th graders. Please encourage your student to practice the PSAT test and to read the information booklet. Examples of all test questions and tips on taking the PSAT are in the preparation booklet. Also, notice the list of sponsors in the PSAT booklet. If you work for any of these sponsors, they may have scholarships for your student.

The PSAT is like the SAT, so we are working on taking the SAT for college when we practice the PSAT.

Results of the PSAT tests will be given to students in January. Each score sheet and the test booklet will be given to the student. Students can continue to use these score sheets to prepare for the SAT.

PSAT score sheets inform students about their chosen career and college major. Students can research colleges, careers, scholarships, etc., using the code at the top of the page.
