Coca Cola Scholarship

High school seniors are eligible to apply for $3 million in college scholarship: 250 awards are presented annually with 50 scholarships for $20,000 and 200 scholarships for $10,000. These achievement based awards are sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and Coca Cola Bottlers across the country.

Deadline: October 31 of one’s senior year in high school.

National Honor Society Will Meet October 2 in Homeroom

August 15th, 2008

This first meeting will be a short meeting. Members will elect officers for the 2008-09 school year.

OUR NEXT REGULAR MEETING WILL BE DURING HOMEROOM, OCTOBER 28.

The Induction Ceremony for 2008-09 school year will be Sunday, March 28 at 2:30 p.m.
Inductees must attend the ceremony in order to become members.

10th & 11th Grade–Governor’s School-2009

Governor’s School applications are ready. Students in 10th and 11th grade who wish to apply need to see Mrs. Stevens in Guidance sometime soon.

The Governor’s School for the Arts application has an early deadline of November 7, 2008. The students’ deadline to complete information for Mrs. Stevens is October 27.

Students who apply to the Arts program must be in good academic standing and must be recommended by their arts teacher. The Arts program is a five-week residency program of intensive study.

Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship

Seniors: Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship is ready online at www.wendysheisman.com.

Deadline is October 1, 2008.

You must have a “B” grade average and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport.

If you have questions requarding the program, you can send an email to wendys@act.org.

A high school representative will have to verify your application.

2009 Horatio Alger Scholarship

2009 Seniors:

Eligibility Criteria:
–Enrolled full time as a high school senior
–Intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution
–Critical financial need, preferably $50,000 or lower adjusted gross income per family
–Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities
–Minimum grade point average of 2.0
–US citizenship

Deadline for application is October 30, 2008.

Students must submit an online application at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.
