Materials needed for Sophomore Bible 2009-2010

Some materials needed for Sophomore Bible for 2009-2010 school year:  1. A Bible-preferably The New International Version. Memory verses and class readings will come from the NIV Bible. 2. A 2″notebook in which to keep all the Bible related materials and handouts.3. Notebook paper for the notebook 4.Blue or black pens. All work that is done for Dr. Fowler should be in blue or black ink.

SENIOR BIBLE5-4-We will review for the test on Tuesday and the gospel will be presented from Romans 5:6-11 and Romans 3:21-31.5-5-Test over the notes and the book entitled ” But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?”5-6-A review will be given for the final exam.5-7-Senior skip day5-8-Shrine school day7TH PERIOD BIBLE5-4-We will finish the resurrection material and review for the test on Tuesday.5-5-Test over the life of Christ5-6-We will read chs.39&40 from A Purpose Driven Life and answer questions from those chapters.5-7-We will read ch 23 from the book entitled A Newcomer’s Guide to the Bible. Students will answer questions from the book.5-8-We will read ch.24 from the textbook and answer questions from those chapters.

SENIOR BIBLE 4-27-We will discuss chapters 5&6 from the book,”But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” 4-28-We will read chapters 7&8 from the book, “But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” The students will answer questions from those chapters in class. 4-29-We will discuss chapters 7&8 from the book “But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” 4-30-We will read chapters 9&10 from the book “But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” The students will answer questions from those chapters. 5-1-We will discuss chapters 9&10 from the book,”But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?”                                                               7TH PERIOD 4-27-We will read the feeding of the 5,000 from the gospels of Mark and John and then answer questions from an article on the feeding of the 5,000. 4-28-We will study the parables of the lost son and the good samaritan. 4-29-We will read chapters 19&20 from the textbook and answer questions from the book. 4-30-We will study about the crucifixion of Christ. 5-1-We will study about the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and what it means to us today.

SENIOR BIBLE 4-20-We read chs.1&2 from the book ,”But Don’t All Religions Lead To God?”The students answered questions from those chapters. 4-21-We discussed chs.1&2 from the previous days reading. 4-23-We read chs 3&4 from the book,”But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” The students answered questions from those chapters. 4-23-We discussed chs.3&4 from the previous days reading. 4-24-We read chs. 5&6 from the book,”But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” The students answered questions from those chapters. 7TH PERIOD BIBLE 4-20-We finished studying the baptism of Jesus and the Christian’s baptism. 4-21-Students gave devotionals in class. 4-22-We studied the temptations of Jesus and how they are related to us.We also began the Sermon on the Mount. 4-23-We had student reports and devotionals in class. 4-24-We will finish the Sermon on The Mount.

SENIOR BIBLE 4-13-Students read Chs.31-33 from the book,A Purpose Driven Life. Students also answered questions from Chs. 31-33. 4-14-We finished up the 9th and 10th principles for choosing the right marriage partner. 4-15-We will finish a review for the major test on Thursday. 4-16-Major test over the 10 principles for choosing the right marriage partner and related materials. 4-17-We will begin studying the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and the Christian faith. We will read chs. 1&2 from the book “But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” 7TH PERIOD BIBLE 4-13-Test two over the Old Testament.      4-14-We began our study of Jesus Christ and how he fits into the three great themes of creation,fall, and redemption. 4-15-We will continue our study of the birth narratives of Jesus from Matthew 1&2 and Luke 1&2. 4-16-We will read chs.37&38 from A Purpose Driven Life and answer questions from the chapters. 4-17-We will study the baptism of Jesus and the Christian’s baptism.

SENIOR BIBLE 4-6-We will go over the article,”Resisting Sexual Temptations,” and then we will study the 6th principle for choosing the right marriage partner. 4-7-We will go over the 7th principle for choosing the right marriage partner and discuss it in class. 4-8-We will read chapters 31-33 from ” A Purpose Driven Life.” 4-9- We will have a quiz over the 10 principles for choosing the right marriage partner and then we will go over the 8th principle for choosing the right marriage partner.                   7TH PERIOD BIBLE 4-6-We will review for a major test on Wednesday over the Old Testament. 4-7-We will begin our study of the NT and it’s background. 4-8-Comprehensive test over the Old Testament.     4-9-We will study the birth and childhood narratives of Jesus Christ.

SENIOR BIBLE 3-30-We studied the 3rd principle of Finding the Love of Your Life which was ” Find a Person Who is a Lot Like You.” A home work assignment was given which was to list in order, and in explain in a sentence for each point ,the top ten similarities which are important. 3-31-We read ch. 27 from A Purpose Driven Life. This day was also used as a catch up day because several students were behind on two previous assignments. 4-1-We will discuss the 4th and begin the 5th principle for Finding the Love of Your Life. The 4th principle is “Get Yourself Healthy before You get Yourself Married.” 4-2-We will finish the 5th principle for Finding the Love of Your Life and hopefully also complete the 6th principle. 4-3-We will read chapters 28-30 From a Purpose Driven Life and discuss them as we have time. 7TH PERIOD BIBLE 3-30-We finished up the prophets and reviewed for a test on Tuesday. 3-31-Test over the Old Testament Prophets. 4-1-We will begin reviewing for two comprehensive tests over the Old Testament. 4-2-We will work on our Bible devotional in class. 4-3-Open book and open note test over the OT.

SENIOR BIBLE-3-23-We read ch. 23 from A Purpose Driven Life and talked about the chapter.We also began the first principle on finding the love of your life. 3-24-We talked about the 7 causes of faulty mate selection. 3-25-We talked about the principle-develop a clear image of the ideal spouse in your mind before you get married.Homework assignment-place in order 10 general dimensions when choosing the right marriage partner. 3-26-We read chs.24-26 from A Purpose Driven Life. 3-27-Homework assignment is due.We will talk about the ten dimensions and why they placed them in the order that they did.We will begin the principle -Find a Person Who is a Lot Like You. 7TH PERIOD BIBLE 3-23-Students went to the computer lab to work on their Bible Devotional. 3-24-We studied the great book of Isaiah: it’s themes ,prophecies and famous verses about God. 3-25-We continued our study of the major and minor prophets within their historical context. We also discussed the major prophecies that were in those books. 3-26-We will go to the computer lab to work on our Bible Devotional. 3-27-We will continue our thematic and prophetic study of the prophets.There will be a test on Tuesday,March 31, over the prophets.

SENIOR BIBLE-3-16-We reviewed the quarter exam,went over the Bible Report, and talked about where they were going to college. A one page assignment was given for Wednesday about what is right and what is wrong about the way we go about dating and marriage in America. 3-17-We began our study of marriage from the Holy Scriptures. We also started studying about general facts about marriage here in America. 3-18-We read chs.21&22 from A Purpose Driven Life and discussed the contents. 3-19-We will begin our study of the TEN PRINCIPLES FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT MARRIAGE PARTNER. 3-20-We will have a quiz over the 5 purposes of life from the book,A Purpose Driven Life.We will also read ch.23 from the book and discuss it.7TH PERIOD BIBLE -3-16-We talked about college plans for Seniors and what they did over spring break. Each student choose a story or parable from the life of Christ to do a devotional on in late April and May. 3-17-We began our study of the Old Testament literary prophets.We studied Amos,Hosea and Joel. 3-18-Each student will spend some time working on their devotional and develop three lessons from their story or parable. We will finish the class by studying some more of the pre-exilic prophets and discuss their themes and their applicability for today. 3-19-We will go to the computer lab and research materials for our devotional. 3-20-We will continue our study of the prophets.

SENIOR BIBLE3-2-We studied some teachings from the NT that God says are necessary for our prayers to be answered. Bible reports were due today.3-3-We finished our discussion on prayer and reviewed for the test on Wednesday.3-4-Test over the materials we studied on prayer.3-5-We will read and answer questions from ch. 20 in the book entitled, A Purpose Driven Life.3-6-We will have a catch up day for students who are behind in anything this quarter.7TH PERIOD BIBLE3-2-We studied II Kings 17-23 and reviewed for the test on Wednesday.3-3-We will finish II Kings,touch on Daniel,the captivity and finish reviewing for the test.3-4-Test over I Kings 12-II Kings which includes the Divided Kingdom period.3-5-We will have oral extra credit reports and turn in all Purpose Driven Life materials.3-6-We will choose a devotional topic for the 4th quarter.
