We’ll read silently today and write down three different “Biblical Truths” from our reading and explain why we feel each connects with that given truth.

April 28th, 2008

MONDAY 4/28: Today I will go over the work that is to be done while I am out at the Pepperdine Bible Lectures Tuesday - Friday of this week.

We will also be reading and taking notes on the next Letter to be presented in each class.

HW: Finish reading the rest of the Letter if not finished during class today.

TUESDAY 4/29: Students will begin to work on a packet of information on “Friendship” from Andy Stanley’s series called “7 Checkpoints for Teens”.

HW: Work on the “Friendship” information as needed. It must be turned in fully completed AT THE START OF CLASS on Thursday, May 1

WEDNESDAY 4/30: Students will continue to work on the “7 Checkpoints” material started yesterday. It must be turned in fully completed AT THE START OF CLASS on Thursday, May 1.

THURSDAY 5/1: Today students will complete an essay in class on Friendship.

MONDAY 4/21: Today we’ll be silently reading over the Letters that will be presented tomorrow. Students will gather into groups of 3-4 and discuss which of the verses or concepts they just read would be most needed by our world today. A class discussion will follow.

* Believe it or not, we are half way through the last quarter of the year! Be sure to check K-12 Planet often to be up to date on where your students grades are at the is crucial stage. Finishing strong at the end of the year is difficult and will take encouragement from within and without!!!! “We can do ALL things through Christ who gives us strength!”

MONDAY 4/14: I will be out today and the substitute will lead students through reading the Letters which will be presented tomorrow in class. Students will take notes as they read and turn these notes in for a grade.

MONDAY 4/7: The last class day to work on the Letters Project Presentation will be today. We’ll be in the computer lab in case students need access to the internet and/or to Power Point.

HW: Write a paragraph finishing this sentence:
“The most interesting thing about my book was . . . ”

TUESDAY 4/8: Today we’ll discuss the paragraphs written for last night’s homework. We’ll also take a look at the Presentation Rubric so students will be aware of the specific items that will be evaluated during their presentations which begin on Thursday.

WEDNESDAY 4/9: We’ll continue talking about the paragraphs from yesterday as needed as well as taking time to read the books that will be presented in class tomorrow and writing a paragraph on our first impressions of them.

Today we will discuss what we learned from yesterday’s presentation. We’ll begin by writing out what our “second impressions” were and comparing them with what we wrote on Wednesday. We’ll also discuss how what we heard can apply to how we live out our lives on a daily basis.

WEEK OF MARCH 31- APRIL 4

April 1st, 2008

Monday 3/31: Today we will continue and hopefully finish up the Historical Background section of the project. Many will already be looking at their books from a standpoint of surfacing the “3 Biblical Truths” from the writing in their given Letter.

HW: none

Tuesday 4/1 : Today will be the last day in the Library. Materials will be on reserve (unable to be checked out) until the end of the project so that all students who need to use them will be able to find them in the Library. Today should end the research portion of the project. Research from this point on must be done independently.

HW: None

Wednesday 4/2: We will take a break from the project today by coming back to our Praying in Color activity.

HW: None.

Thursday 4/3: Project teams will be continuing the preparation for their Presentations by working together to produce their outlines (to be turned in for a grade at the time of presenting). They will also be making note cards that can be used while presenting. Another item to be started today possibly is to talk about what visual aids will be used to help their audience understand the content that will be presented.

HW: Work on the presentation as needed.

Friday 4/4:

Project teams will be continuing the preparation for their Presentations by working together to produce their outlines (to be turned in for a grade at the time of presenting). They will also be making note cards that can be used while presenting. March 25th, 2008

Monday: 3/24 Today I’ll lay out all of the details of the project. I’ll explain what the end product will be and what the expectations are on the process to that final presentation.

Tuesday: 3/25 Today I will review the expectations and specific pieces to the project.
I will also reveal the groups and allow the team to get together for the first time. Their task today will be to read through their book at least once and answer a few cursory questions about it:

>What stood out to me upon my first reading?
>What questions do I have?
>Can I already see where some sections will coincide
with one or more of the “3 Biblical Truths About God�?

Wednesday 3/26:

Today students will be in their groups and working on preparing for the Historical Background section of their presentation. We will be in the Library using books such as NIV Application Commentaries, Study Bibles, Internet sources, etc.) from which they can pull information on the author, audience, etc for their particular letter.

• Students must turn in an essay sharing the historical background information they found as they studied.

WEEK OF MARCH 17-20

March 18th, 2008

Monday: 3/17 Welcome back!!! Today we’ll introduce a new in-class prayer project inspired by a book by local author Sybil MacBeth (a math professor at Rhodes) called Praying in Color.

Tuesday: 3/18 Review the rationale for the new Praying in Color idea and then put the idea into practice.

Wednesday: 3/19 Return Quarter Exams (grades will be available on K12 Thursday after 4:00)
Debrief yesterdays Praying in Color project.

Thursday: 3/20 Introduce the new Group Project involving Paul’s letters and the “3 Biblical Truths About God”

Friday: 3/21 GOOD FRIDAY! No school today.
