Responsibility Statement

The educational success of a student is a collaborative effort of teachers, students, and parents. By fulfilling the following responsibilities we can better achieve the goals set forth in Harding Academy's mission statement.

It is the responsibility of a Harding Academy teacher to:

  • Be a Christian role model
  • Treat children fairly and with respect
  • Create an attractive and safe classroom environment
  • Present the appropriate grade level curriculum using effective teaching techniques
  • Support and enforce school rules
  • Establish behavior guidelines and carry them out consistently
  • Expect good work habits and appropriate behavior
  • Provide opportunities to learn responsibility and cooperation
  • Use professional judgment in accurately reporting a child's work and progress
  • Keep open lines of communication with parents
  • Be willing to seek appropriate resources in addressing a child's needs

It is the responsibility of a Harding Academy student to:

  • Demonstrate Christian character and attitude
  • Treat others with kindness and acceptance
  • Accept responsibility for his own actions
  • Accept responsibility for his own work
  • Obey those in authority
  • Obey classroom and school rules
  • Abide by the guidelines set forth in the student handbook
  • Listen and follow instructions
  • Cooperate and participate in class activities

It is the responsibility of a Harding Academy parent to:

  • Have the child at school daily and on time
  • Support the teacher and school policies
  • Expect the child to listen and obey
  • Expect the child to be accountable and responsible for his own actions and work
  • Expect the child to carry out his responsibilities himself
  • Provide a time and a place for the child to do homework
  • Teach a good work ethic by encouraging the child to complete homework
  • Look over work and weekly folders sent home by the teacher
  • Keep an open line of communication with the teacher
